FALL BALL 2020- Registration Now Open

Based on your response to the “Return to Play” survey* and the experience we gained this summer with the play of our Sage, Impact and Spirit travel teams, the AGSA Executive Board voted to open up House (Rec) leagues to play this fall. We are attempting to have a full season emulating as much as possible our typical Spring season with standings, play-off and awards. However, this will be far from our “typical” Fall season!

Practices will be starting as early as Aug. 29 and games starting just after Labor Day,  Sept 7. 

Registration will open Monday, Aug. 24 , so we are on a very tight schedule and ask that you please register in the next couple of days.

 

IMPORTANT:

If you registered for the 2020 Spring season, then all you need to do is log-in, consent to the waiver and confirm you read and agree to the AGSA Return-To-Play (RTP) Guidelines. As you already paid your registration fee in the spring, there is no additional fee for the fall.

If you have already registered for the Spring 2020 season, we only need you to consent to the Return to Play Waiver and Guidelines. To do so:

  • Log into your account and click Register to Play/Participate.
  • Choose 2020 House Return to Play Waiver Consent. There is no additional fee for this registration. The purpose of this is to present you with our Return to Play Waiver and obtain your consent to that waiver and your agreement to follow our AGSA Return to Play Guidelines -House. Copies of both of these can be found on our COVID-19 web page.
  • PLEASE COMPLETE THIS PROCESS BY WED, AUG 26.
  • On Thur, Aug 27, all players that were previously registered but have not completed this waiver consent process will be removed from their previously assigned team and commissioners will begin to reform teams if necessary. You may still complete this process after Aug 26 but we will only be checking for new waivers once or twice a week and will have to add you onto a team where we are able. Basically, we need to know who is going to play (and consent to the waiver and return to play guidelines) and who isn’t so that we can reorganize teams if necessary. And we need your cooperation in completing this process in the next few days.

If you have already registered for the Spring 2020 season, have not previously requested a refund or donated your registration fee AND you are not ready to return to play this fall, please contact the Registrar at agsaregistrar@gmail.com. If you have already contacted the Registrar and notified us of your intent not to play, you do not need to let us know again. This email is being sent not only to those who are still currently registered to play but also everyone that played in 2019.

If you did not register for the 2020 Spring season and are registering after Aug. 22. You need to:

  • Log into your account and click Register to Play/Participate.
  • Choose the House Softball Spring 2020. Yes, you are registering for the “Spring” season. We are basically running the Spring season that was already set up and had hundreds of kids registered... delayed by many months. Aside from the normal registration questions, this registration has been updated to include the consent to the 2020 House Return to Play Waiver and the AGSA Return to Play Guidelines -House. Copies of both of these can be found on our COVID-19 web page.

 

Many 2020 Spring Coaches have been contacted in an attempt to determine who is coming back. The schedule is currently being prepared, to the extent possible, not knowing exactly how many teams will be formed.

 There will be many other changes incorporated in order to mitigate the risks associated with Covid-19.

Some notable changes for the fall:

  • Very short time allowed for registration due to late start and opening schedule.
  • Social distancing will be a priority
  • Each player must provide their own bat**, and batting helmet with their names marked on the equipment. AGSA will provide helmets and bats to the extent possible on a first come basis. The equipment would be returned to AGSA at the end of the season.
  • There will be 2 sets of catchers gear supplied to each team. The player assigned to the gear would take the gear home, be responsible for cleaning it and bring to each practice/game. Gear would be returned at the end of the season.
  • A Covid screening process will be put in place for all practices and games
  • No physical contact allowed, outside of incidental gameplay contact
  • Every player must bring their own water and not share.
  • No eating in the dugout, no seed chewing, gum chewing or spitting allowed.
  • Mask is required to be worn when not on the field and is optional on the field.
  • Coaches are required to wear masks at all times.
  • Each team must have 2 volunteer parents (not coaches) designated as the “Covid Managers” that would be present for each game and practice to conduct the screening and monitor social distancing.
  • When feasible, bleachers will be used for the player benches and the dug-out used only for on-deck and hole batters. Parents should use sidelines and outfield. 
  • 2 sets of “defensive” game balls will be used, with each team using only their own game balls on defense. Offensive players should never touch balls.
